Gender equality and women’s role in development – a thematic priority
Gender equality and women’s role in development is one of three priorities in Swedish Development cooperation. SADEV plans a series of evaluations as regards gender equality in development cooperation during 2009-2012.
During 2009 SADEV made an overview of Swedish work as regards gender equality in development cooperation. Based on the overview SADEV will implement a series of three evaluations covering different aspects and strategies of the work, with a final synthesis report summarizing the findings. The three evaluations are:
1. Gender equality/women’s role in development in the other two prioritized areas democracy/human rights and environment/climate (initiated)
2. The impact of the prioritization on four areas of work in gender equality in Swedish development cooperation (Women’s economic empowerment, Women’s political participation, Sexual and reproductive health and rights, Women and security.
3. Education - a way to gender equality? (initiated)
Evaluation 1 and 3 are under implementation during the spring 2010. A synthesis report will summarize the findings of the three evaluations.
